BATTERY MANAGEMENT : HYPERVISION DASHBOARD

Solar cameras are amazing! But they're not magic!
CCTV cameras are not designed to record a documentary on earth moving!

Remember these 2 SIMPLE RULES

  • NO SUN .. No Charging!

  • HEAVY USE (Recording) ... Heavy Battery drain!

Your CCTV camera is on "dry hire", meaning it's in your control! Like hiring a drill, it's your responsibility to ensure the battery is managed correctly in periods of high use or low charge (sun).

If a camera is subject to HIGH or CONTINUOUS USE, we suggest opting for a NIGHTHAWK camera or the option of fitting extra batteries.

Under  Under "normal use" conditions and moderate sunlight, cameras should give you 100% uninterrupted running with little to no maintenance.

-----------------------------

IN BRIEF

  • During periods of "high use" on site, consider turning the camera (PIR) off  by day in the app and save the battery.

  • Through periods of "low sunlight" (Winter/Rain periods) consider turning the camera (PIR) off by day in the app and save the battery.

  • Monitor your battery charge daily (Just like your phone or a laptop)

  • Make sure you close APP after use (Swiping to the background) is not close

  • If you need more power, consider ordering "external back up batteries".
(Please arrange this at time of hiring)

(Turning the PIR off can be found under settings in your phone app, make sure you turn it back on at night!!)

-----------------------------

  • ABOUT
Your camera features a 5-14 day back up battery in normal operating conditions, However, heavy use, low winter sun / shaded areas or poor management, can bring a camera battery to its knees in hours. (It's like sending a 100 txts from your phone (no battery drain) or using maps (high battery drain)

  • Has your camera stopped working and there is a little RED indicator
on the bottom of your app window?  (oh no!)

Don't worry! When the sun shines, the camera will be back in no time!

  • CHECK YOUR BATTERY
Check your camera battery daily (or at least weekly) and ensure everything is running as it should. Especially during periods of high site activity and/or low sun.  If something is concerning you or the battery is running down under normal conditions, please contact us well before it goes flat. If the forecast is CLOUDY or RAIN for an extended period, it's the same as not charging your phone, so make sure you conserve power by turning it off when not is use   (Eg: Each morning) If you let it just stand there and record non stop activity with no charge going in ... you know the rest!

  • If the battery has gone flat then there is a reason!
Batteries in our site cameras have EXCELLENT back up and will run 5 - 14 days (sun, activity & model dependant) even if unplugged! So if a battery goes flat then something made it happen!

  • Like any cordless power tool - you get warning!
The phone app will send warnings for 7 days prior to 100% battery drain in normal circumstances. If you have a "heavy use" day, and you didn't shut the camera down, the app will show you the % left and trouble is on its way if no sun is forecast,  So if it suddenly goes flat, then it's on you!

The BATTERY status in the settings, also give a CLEAR indication of the status of the battery everyday . So if the battery charge is heading down over a period of days, it's time to look at what's going on or contact us!
(Before it goes flat!)  (Charging & rebooting a flat battery is c
    hargeable)

  • HEAVY SITE ACTIVITY  Standard site cameras are not designed to record a wedding length event or a documentary on earth moving!! They are dedicated CCTV site cameras designed for 24HR site management via logging in and overnight alerts with intermittent recording. If you have continuous or HEAVY site activity (worse under cloudy conditions), the cameras will monitor, assess & record ALL activity, draining the battery fast! (Even if emails are off)
(Remedy: Turn PIR off whilst activity in progress!

  • APP LEFT OPEN
Another cause can be forgetting to close your app after viewing. Swiping to the background is not closing an app. It's still draining the battery (& data) . Streaming will drain a battery within hours on a standard site camera. If its followed by cloud cover, then the charge rate will be slow or even non existent until sun. You will get warning in the app if the battery is running low.

(Remedy: Close APP, Wait for Sun / book service (Chargeable)

  • SUN SHIFT
Over Winter the sun will drop in the sky and change position and your camera may no longer be getting a full charge or a tree is now shading the solar panel. You will get plenty of warning in the app if it's not getting enough sun.  (Remedy: Book service call (NON Chargeable)

  • CAMERA MOVED
When cameras are installed on, site we perform a sun calculation. If you have moved the camera to a new position and it's now in shade or panel facing the wrong way, in which case it may need to be repositioned. If it cannot, contact us and discuss remote solar options. You will get plenty of warning in the app if it's not getting enough sun.
(Remedy: Move camera back into sun, book service  call (Chargeable)

So my battery is flat! Now what do I do??

If contacting Hypervision service with a disconnected camera, t
he first  question you'll get asked is "How was your battery?"

If the camera is GOING flat even though there is plenty of sun.

- No Charge  BOOK A SERVICE CALL (Before it goes flat)

If camera has moved into shade from the season (Not your fault)

- No Charge  BOOK A SERVICE CALL (Before it goes flat)

If the camera has GONE flat due to unmanaged heavy use ...
WAIT FOR SUN (Free) OR BOOK SERVICE - Chargeable

If the camera has been moved by you

MOVE AGAIN for SUN OR BOOK SERVICE - Chargeable

Regardless of the reason, the APP gives PLENTY of warning to book a service call early or make contact with us well before a battery goes flat.

A 7-14 Day wait may apply to get techs on site in normal scheduling.
Urgent Fees will apply if shorter lead times required.
